Seniors Page

Two thirds of the year are now gone and we, as old farts, wonder where the first two thirds went.  Yes, the weather has not been the most cooperative but we can't do anything about that so lets everyone go out and make the best of what is left.  Many days of dry weather still prevail and we can get in some good golfing.

We can begin by joining your senior friends in the last Senior Tournament of the year on Wednesday, September 8th.  This is a points tournament where all golfers earn points,  points equal money, EVERYBODY wins.  This is a modified stableford with points given for your efforts.  A bogie=1 pt.; par= 2 pts.; birdie=5 pts; double eagle (I'm not concerned with this one)=7 pts. These are always well run tournaments put together by a committee headed by Frank Lucarelli, assisted by Larry Conwell and a few others that jump into help where needed.  Thank you to Frank and his group for a fun year of tournaments.

Speaking of tournaments, just because the seniors are through for the year there are still several events put together by the Men's Club.  They have their two day Medal Play Championship Sept. 11 & 12th and October 7 is their Fall Field Day.  As I mentioned before, do not be intimidated by the `big guys'.  Just because it doesn't have SENIOR in the title you are still welcome to play and to take home some of the winnings.  All of the tournaments are based on Gross and Net and usually with two to three divisions, thusly,  if you can play to your handicap or close to it you have a good chance of a placing in the tournament as they try to pay out to a third of the participants. So come join the fun and GOOD LUCK!

Since this is written in the Senior  section here is something maybe we can all relate to, " If your opponent has trouble remembering whether he shot a six or seven, he probabally shot an eight".

Again, I am requesting your input be it a joke, anecdotes, an upcoming event, or whatever, please send it to me.

Have a great round and I hope to see you on the teebox soon.
